Sewer renovation in Cock Hill Lane and Sandbrook Lane, near Galhampton

Wessex Water will be carrying our repairs to the sewer network between North Cadbury and Galhampton in July.

Relining and sealing sewers in this way helps protect the environment, preventing foul water from escaping and groundwater from entering sewers, which can lead to flooding or storm overflows automatically discharging into rivers if the system becomes overwhelmed.

This work will start on Monday 22 July 2024 and continue until Friday 26 July 2024.

Most of the repairs will be carried out using ‘no-dig’ techniques, which are quicker and less intrusive than replacing the pipe in a conventional manner.

Between Monday 22 and Friday 26 July 2024 there will be full road closure on Sandbrook Lane, starting opposite Sandbrook Orchard until the junction of Sandbrook Lane and Cockhill Lane. A diversion will be in place via Hearn Lane, High Road, and Cary Road.

Vehicle access will be restricted to properties in Cock Hill Lane at times during this work. The project and on-site teams will work with residents of Cock Hill Lane with regard to any specific access arrangements.

There may be some noise disruption while this work is carried out, but every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum and complete the work as quickly as possible.

Water and sewerage services can be used normal unless we advise otherwise.

We will shortly be writing to local customers, including in Cock Hill Lane, to advise them about this work and I attach a copy of that letter for your information.

In the meantime, should you have any questions about this work, please do not hesitate to contact me via this email address.

Yours faithfully

Rogue Traders

Polish gang currently operating under GRJ plumbing and heating in the somerset area. Trading standards have identified the gang leader to be Gage Jodkowski, who has been previously convicted for sexual assault of a minor under section 4 sexual offences act 2003. This gang previously called themself SAS plumbing and maintenance and have had other names prior to this. The gang regularly use fake names, change contact number and use other company addresses across the somerset area. If you have been a victim or you know somebody who has been a victim of this gang please call the police and report to trading standards immediately. Avon and somerset police along with trading standards are currently building a case for prosecution and require more victims to come forward. Cold calling and door knocking is the common strategy used by this gang so we have provided a photo for you to share with any elderly or vulnerable people in your community.
